Composer’s note
In this piece, I was intrigued by the Dorian mode and its ability to create contrasting moods by using chords from different parts of the scale. When playing chords from the lower end of the scale, the piece takes on a darker, more somber tone, while chords from the upper end evoke a brighter, more uplifting feeling. I found it fascinating how sometimes the shift between these moods can be abrupt, and other times they can coexist simultaneously, creating a unique blend of light and dark elements in the music.
