Composer’s note
An arrangement I wrote for the Christmas Service in Tallinn Methodist Church 2019. This was the second time I arranged something for the Christmas service in that same church. This is in fact my second arrangement ever! The previous year I wrote an arrangement of Lo, how a rose e’er blooming and I got really inspired to do more arrangements in the future. I really enjoyed the feeling of trying to gently take care of a famous, well known and much beloved melody, adding my own touch and bringing it to life. This without molding it into something unfamiliar or unrecognizable for the audience.
The setting for this particular arrangement of Franz Gruber’s Silent Night is a bit unusual at first glance. But do not worry, you can perform this arrangement with any other suitable instruments or ensemble that you might have at hand. This particular setting originates from what instruments was available at this given event with solely members of the church participating in the orchestra.
