Composer’s note
I knew I wanted to explore the Mixolydian mode in this piece. It ended up being two modes layered but with the Mixolydian as the foundation. As for the title: it came to me later in the process and I liked it because a sacred space can be both physical or mental so the meaning is double fold. Even though it’s up to the listener to decide the meaning of it, the piece has a symmetrical structure, much like a beautiful cathedral.
