Composer’s note
Things Might Change embodies a relentless pursuit of change and stimuli—a quick shift from one material to another, akin to flickering between images. Influences from progressive metal, especially the Swedish band Meshuggah, celebrated for their intricate rhythms, have left their mark both in this and other pieces of mine. This composition marks a turning point in my career as a composer. It was during this period that I realized the immense power of layering two seemingly unrelated ideas, creating depth and friction simultaneously—an insight imparted by my mentor at the University of Gothenburg, Ole Lützow-Holm, underscoring the significance of mentorship in artistic growth.
